Geothermal Heat Pumps

"Geothermal heat pumps (GHPs), sometimes referred to as GeoExchange, earth-coupled, ground-source, or water-source heat pumps, have been in use since the late 1940s. They use the relatively constant temperature of the earth as the exchange medium instead of the outside air temperature.... Like a cave, this ground temperature is warmer than the air above it during the winter and cooler than the air in the summer. The GHP takes advantage of these more favorable temperatures to become high efficient by exchanging heat with the earth through a ground heat exchanger."

Dyeing of the Chicago River

March 12

Head downtown to see the annual dyeing of the Chicago River! This event kicks off the day at 9am. The river dyeing can be seen at street level between State and Columbus. Recommended viewing spots: 

Michigan Avenue Bridge (East side) and 

Columbus Drive Bridge (West side).

Right after the river dyeing, the parade will be underway starting at 12pm. The parade starts at Balbo and Columbus, follows Columbus drive, and ends outside the Chicago Art Institute. See you there!
